Yankee Doodle Dandy
1 lb ground beef 1 clove garlic, minced 1/4 t pepper 1 - 1 /2 oz envelope spaghetti sauce mix 3 c water 1 - 6oz can tomato paste 1/2 t dried thyme, crushed 1 -8 oz package medium or wide noodles, cooked and drained (4 cups) 1 c dairy sour cream 1 -3 oz package cream cheese, softened 1/2 c grated parmesan cheese 1T snipped parsley
In a large skillet, cook and stir the ground beef and garlic until browned. Drain fat. Stir in pepper.
In a small bowl, stir together the spaghetti sauce mix, water, tomato paste and thyme. Stir the spaghetti sauce mixture into the beef mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 325.
Place half the cooked noodles in a 3 qt rectangular baking dish. Spread half the meat sauce over the noodles.
In another small bowl, stir together sour cream, cream cheese, 1/4 c Parmesan cheese and parsley.
Spread 2/3 of the cheese mixture over the meat sauce layer in the baking dish.
Spread the remaining noodles over the cheese layer.
Completely cover the top layer of noodles with remaining meat sauce.
Spread the remaining cheese mixture in the center of the casserole.
Sprinkle the remaining parmesan over all.
Bake for about 20 minutes or until heated through.
Makes 8 - 10 servings. | |
